lost fragment
From September 2022 till January 2023 I followed a minor at the fashion department from the HKU named: What is Fashion? In the minor you learned how to think and work as a fashion designer while creating from your own fascination. In this semester I created a collection which consists of 3 clothing pieces and a photo collection.
My concept for this project was "childhood dreams in the harsh reality". Where the clothes represent the childhood dreams while the environment represents the harsh reality. In the years where we grow up, we realize that some dreams can not be achieved and decide to forget about it. But most of the time it is not always forgotten, it just has turned into a lost fragment in your memories.
When I was catching up with an old friend of mine she told me that I turned my childhood dream into reality, to study at a big art academy. At the realization I unknowingly did continue going after that dream and I wanted to visualize that feeling that I felt at that moment.
The clothes are inspired on the concepts of flowers. Flowers are symbolized as something beautiful yet fragile while it is growing just like children full of dreams. The clothes represent that childhood dream, something that is often romanticized and protected because we don't want to lose that meaningful feeling behind it. In the photography you can see the soft protected side of the childhood dream and how that dream is living in the reality of growing up and forgetting it.
